How to join the 4th Degree
Are you ready to deepen your commitment to the Knights of Columbus? The Fourth Degree is the Patriotic Degree and serves to engage Knights of Columbus as active Catholic citizens. Please review the requirements below to see if you qualify to join.
Any Third Degree Knight, having completed The Exemplification of Charity, Unity & Fraternity, wishing to advance to the 4th Degree must meet the following requirements:
- Over 18 years of age
- a citizen of the country in which you reside
- a practical Catholic in union with the Holy See
- a Third Degree member in good standing
Members of the Fourth Degree must retain their membership as Third Degree members with their council to remain in “good standing”.
If you meet these qualifications, please contact your local Assembly to submit your Form 4 application. Your Grand Knight or the District Master can assist you in making contact with the Assembly.
You must complete the 4th Degree Exemplification to earn your title of “Sir Knight”. Exemplifications are usually held three times a year in the Southern California District. Upcoming Exemplifications will be listed on this and other websites as information becomes available. Please check this space for updated information.

Application deadline is Wednesday, February 18, 2026. Please print the application from the file below and submit to FP Steve Galindo or Faithful Comptroller Mike Pharrell.
